Dharaa is a translocal residency that brings together cultural practitioners, artists, designers, and researchers to collaborate with master indigenous artisans. The program centers on jamdani weaving, a UNESCO-recognized Intangible Cultural Heritage, aiming to revitalize this ancient craft as a sustainable model for preserving artisan livelihoods, grounded in the framework of cultural intellectual property. This initiative fosters innovation within the craft’s enduring cultural heritage by embracing the diverse knowledge and perspectives of its participants. Through collaborative efforts, it expands artistic expression and reimagines future directions for jamdani, contributing to the evolution of the craft sector as a contemporary relevant field of social cohesion.
